The Wisconsin Badgers shocked fans last season when firing former head coach Paul Chryst midseason after a tumultuous start, ultimately going with heralded coach Luke Fickell as their guy at the end of the season.
Chryst, a longtime offensive coordinator and the Badgers head coach from 2014-2022, ultimately earned a $11 million buyout with Wisconsin and transitioned to an offensive assistant role on Steve Sarkisian’s staff at Texas.
Now one year removed from a head coaching gig, Chryst is back in the mix with several head coaching opportunities.
According to a report, Chryst was one of eight coaches contacted by Northwestern who declined the opportunity before the Wildcats hired David Braun to the full-time role.
