Chicago – Wisconsin tailback Dare Ogunbowale was awarded a bully pulpit Tuesday, the opportunity to share his thoughts about the world he sees, with several hundred college football fans.
Ogunbowale, a former walk-on from Marquette High School, wisely chose not to bully his listeners by hammering them with an overbearing and condescending lecture.
Rather, he delivered a heartfelt plea. He asked everyone in attendance to look past the differences that make individuals unique, to appreciate rather than shun those differences and understand how they can unify rather than divide.
"You don't have to look far today to see reminders of the things that divide us," said Ogunbowale, who was selected by Big Ten officials to speak for all the players in attendance.
