Confident Badgers say they're ready for Big Ten play

Madison — Last month, Wisconsin was the pundits' pick to win the Big Ten Conference West Division title.

But after seeing UW struggle to run the ball for the first 11/2 games and now with the loss of tailback Corey Clement (sports hernia) for most and perhaps all of league play, the Badgers are viewed as one of several teams capable of winning the division.

The early-season favorites are unbeaten Northwestern and Iowa, the Wildcats because of the play of their defense and the Hawkeyes because of their offensive prowess.

Is UW (3-1) adequately prepared for league play, which opens at 11 a.
