Curtis Morgan and Lake Bachar delivered dominant pitching outings Saturday, each tossing complete games to lead the 14th-ranked UW-Whitewater baseball team to a sweep of Rose-Hulman (Ind.) and a berth in the NCAA Division III World Series.
Morgan pitched a complete-game five-hitter with eight strikeouts in an 11-0 win in the first game. Bachar had a complete-game six-hitter with nine strikeouts in a 5-3 victory that clinched the title in the double-elimination Central regional in Sauget, Illinois.
The second win was the 500th in coach John Vodenlich’s career and sent the Warhawks (34-15) to nationals for the eighth time.
