Clemson's Alexander may not play in title game

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Clemson will wait until game time to see if top cornerback Mackensie Alexander will play against Alabama.

Alexander hurt his hamstring in the top-ranked Tigers' 37-17 victory over Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl nearly two weeks ago. He's worked out with the team since, but is still not considered 100 percent.

Team spokesman Tim Bourret said Alexander would go through warmups with the Tigers before any decision is made about his status.

Alexander is expected to try and hold down Alabama star receiver Calvin Ridley.

If Alexander is limited, it would add to Clemson's defensive issues.
