Clement to have surgery, will be out 4-6 weeks

Madison — Wisconsin likely will be without junior tailback Corey Clement for most of the Big Ten Conference season.

UW officials announced Thursday that Clement is scheduled to have sports hernia surgery next week and is expected to be out four to six week afterward.

Clement was limited to eight carries in the first three games because of what UW officials called a left-groin injury suffered the week before the opener.

With Clement out Dare Ogunbowale and Taiwan Deal have gotten the bulk of the carries.

Ogunbowale, a redshirt junior who was switched to tailback from cornerback last September by then-coach Gary Andersen, is set to start his fourth consecutive game when UW (2-1) hosts Hawaii (2-1) at 7 p.
