After taking seven South Dakota State athletes to the NCAA championship and placing 12th last week, Chris Bono is moving to the University of Wisconsin wrestling program.
Bono was named the Badgers' 16th head coach on Saturday, a week removed from a signature accomplishment with the Jackrabbits.
In the last of his six seasons coaching South Dakota State, Bono had one of his wrestlers win a national championship, Seth Gross at 133 pounds, and two others earn All-American finishes.
Bono, 44, was the Big 12 coach of the year in 2017. At UW, he replaces Barry Davis, who led the Badgers for the last 25 seasons.
