I had never been to Kinnick Stadium, so covering Saturday night’s contest between the now-No. 15 Wisconsin Badgers and the Iowa Hawkeyes certainly set a high bar both on the field and in other ways.
First off, for those driving through southwestern Wisconsin to Iowa City—about a three-hour drive from Madison—the scenic view of that section of the Badger State is fantastic. Barely any flat land at all and tons of rolling hills. It really is a fast drive compared to, say, Champaign.
After the first quarter came the coolest aspect of covering the game: the waving of the players/crowd to the families near the top of the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
