The Wisconsin Badgers have secured a commitment from San Diego State transfer quarterback Danny O’Neil, he announced on Monday morning.
O’Neil, a true freshman this past season, started 11 games for the Aztecs, throwing for 2,181 yards, 12 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while completing 63.3 percent of his passes.
He had taken an official visit to Wisconsin this past weekend before making the decision to commit, and he’s the first quarterback to join the program from the transfer portal this offseason.
O’Neil, a three-star recruit from Indiana in the Class of 2024, had initially been committed to the Colorado Buffaloes, but flipped to San Diego State when offensive coordinator Sean Lewis got the head-coaching job with the latter school.
