Badgers women's tennis: UW improves to 2-0 with victory over Marquette

Senior Lauren Chypyha moved into the school’s top 10 for career victories as the University of Wisconsin women’s tennis team defeated Marquette 5-2 on Sunday at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Chypyha took care of Silvia Ambrosio in straight sets at No. 1 singles for her 83rd career victory. She also teamed with freshman Kendall Kirsch for a first-flight doubles win as UW swept the doubles matches.

Kirsch (No. 6) and senior Lauren Burich (No. 3) overcame first-set setbacks to win their singles matches, as the Badgers took four of six from their in-state rivals.

“I’m always happy to beat an in-state rival,” UW coach Tina Samara said.
