The University of Wisconsin's First Varsity Eight was named the Big Ten Conference Boat of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
UW recorded a first-place finish over Minnesota in the Border Battle with a season-best time of 6 minutes, 8.10 seconds. The boat, which was comprised of Lily Hansen, Maria Schmid, Hannah Schwartz, Anna Knutson, Lexi Siverling, Maddie Wanamaker, Gillian Cooper, Brianna Dahm and Kaitlin McKeogh, won the annual regatta for the fifth time in the last six seasons.
It is the second time this season UW's First Varsity Eight has won the weekly conference award.
