Thanks to a pair of second-period goals, the No. 1 University of Wisconsin women’s hockey team dispatched Western Collegiate Hockey Association rival North Dakota 3-2 on Saturday afternoon in front of a sellout crowd of 2,273 at LaBahn Arena.
Eight penalties were issued to each team in a chippy game, but the Badgers (21-2-1, 16-2-1-1 WCHA) were able to survive a late comeback from the Fighting Hawks (12-8-5, 9-6-4-2 WCHA) to extend UW’s win streak to seven-consecutive games.
"Well if you're not on special teams, either way power play or killing the penalties, you get in a rhythm,” UW coach Mark Johnson said.
