BRYAN, Texas – Junior Brooke Ferrell shot a 6-over 78 in the first round of 54-hole NCAA regional play Thursday in Bryan, Texas.
The tournament is hosting full teams from 18 schools, though the Badgers are represented only by Ferrell, who is tied for 70th. She is one of six individuals at the regional, played at the par-72, 6,373-yard The Traditions course. One other participant -- Amy Ihm of Iowa -- is from the Big Ten Conference.
Gonzaga's Bianca Pagdanganan shot 5-under 67 and has a one-stroke lead over Miami's Daniela Darquea.
Indiana's Erin Harper and Camille Chevalier each shot 75 and are tied for 46th to lead Big Ten competitors.
