Zach Ziemek has performed on big stages before.
This weekend, however, Ziemek will have an opportunity to compete for a spot on the biggest stage in all of sports — the Olympics — at the U.S. track and field trials in Eugene, Oregon.
The former University of Wisconsin decathlete, who finished second at the NCAA outdoor championships last month, plans on treating his qualifying events, which take place Saturday and Sunday, like any other meet.
“I’m gonna look at it that way,” Ziemek said. “That’s how I looked at it at nationals. I’m gonna look at trials as just another meet where I’m going to try and take top-three.
