EUGENE, Ore. — There were no complaints from Zach Ziemek.
The University of Wisconsin senior scored 8,300 points and took second place in the men’s decathlon at the NCAA outdoor track and field championships on Thursday night.
The reigning NCAA indoor heptathlon champion’s score was a personal best and a Big Ten Conference record. He is only the eighth collegian to post 8,300 or more points. His total ranks seventh best in the world this year.
Texas A&M’s Lindon Victor (8,379) won and two-time defending champion Maicel Uibo (8,294) of Georgia was third.
“I think it went great considering that I had a huge PR in the event,” Ziemek said.
