Grand Forks, N.D.— It sure looked like a mismatch.
The University of Wisconsin hockey team, which didn't get a victory until the seventh game of the season, had to square off against top-ranked North Dakota on Friday night.
The young Badgers didn't flinch and emerged with a stunning 3-1 victory over North Dakota at the Ralph Engelstad Arena.
Wisconsin (3-3-3) was facing a North Dakota team that was playing its home opener. And North Dakota's Luke Johnson revved up the crowd with a goal 7 minutes, 31 seconds into the game.
That turned out to be the only blemish on the night for freshman goaltender Matt Jurusik.
