The No. 1/2 Wisconsin Badgers women’s hockey team opened the 2024-25 campaign with a couple of dominating performances over Lindenwood at LaBahn Arena.
Things started quickly for the Badgers (2-0-0), who jumped out to a quick lead Friday night when junior forward Laila Edwards opened the floodgates just 1:17 into the game. Wisconsin continued to pour it on, netting eight goals in the first 11:36 to match the school record for goals in a period.
For all the offensive firepower boasted by the Badgers, it was the defense that followed up the hot start by not allowing Lindenwood (0-4-0) a shot on goal in the second period, while freshman Hannah Halverson added to the lead with her first collegiate goal.
