With temperatures in the middle 70s and mostly sunny skies shining on Devil’s Lake in Baraboo, it wasn’t exactly smooth sailing in the University of Wisconsin’s first attempt at a regatta at the state’s most popular state park.
The south shore was lined with spectators and the course, with its bluffs lining the sides, withstood quartering head winds that reached 20 mph.
“This place could handle up to 30-plus mile an hour winds fairly, which is amazing. This wind, ironically, is the most challenging wind that you could possibly get here, but of course we got it on race day.
