Coming off a season in which it set a program record for wins, the 14th-ranked University of Wisconsin women’s soccer team gets its first opportunity of the new year to build on the success.
The Badgers open their season at 7 p.m. Friday night by hosting Western Michigan in a non-conference game at McClimon Field. UW also will host North Dakota State at 1 p.m. Sunday.
There could be as many as five new starters for UW this weekend. Forwards Emily Borgmann and Marisa Kresge, midfielder Micaela Powers, defenseman Holly Heckendorf and goalie Caitlyn Clem are projected to earn their first career starts.
