University of Wisconsin junior and former Dodgeville athlete Molly Hanson finished third in her heat in the 1,500 meters at the NCAA West preliminary round meet in Austin, Texas, securing a spot at the NCAA championships next month.
Hanson’s time of 4 minutes, 18.60 seconds was 11th-best in the field but the top-five result was enough to secure a trip to the NCAA outdoor season finale June 10-13 in Eugene, Oregon.
Meanwhile, junior Kelsey Card added the shot put to her NCAA championships slate, finishing second with a 55-foot, 6½-inch throw.
Card secured an NCAA berth in the discus on Friday.
