EUGENE, Ore. -- Kaitlyn Menz survived some early jitters, then enjoyed a dominant debut performance in the NCAA softball tournament.
The freshman right-hander pitched a complete-game three-hitter to lead the University of Wisconsin to a 7-2 victory against Missouri in the opening game of the Eugene regional on Friday night in Oregon.
Menz allowed runs in the first and third innings but retired the final 11 batters she faced after giving up a one-out single in the fourth inning.
Senior Chloe Miller and sophomore Brooke Wyderski each had two hits and drove in three runs, and Miller scored three times for the Badgers.
