The University of Wisconsin softball team manufactured three runs in the fourth inning and Samantha Arents added a sixth-inning homer as the Badgers defeated Fresno State 4-0 late Saturday night.
UW's final scheduled game of the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, California, was canceled due to poor weather. The Badgers (9-9) were due to play Long Beach State on Sunday morning; UW finished the tournament with a 2-2 record.
Against the 21st-ranked Bulldogs (13-5), Kirsten Stevens and Taylor-Paige Stewart combined on a four-hit shutout. The duo each struck out four batters — Stevens in five innings, and Stewart in two.
