Badgers rowing: Women's lightweight four boat wins national title

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. — The University of Wisconsin women’s lightweight four boat won the national title at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association’s national championships on Sunday at Lake Mercer.

UW’s four (coxswain Audrey Dalgarno, Gabriela Purman, Mirha Girt, Mackenzie Whiteside and Marilyn Garberg) took the lead before the halfway point on the 2,000-meter course. UW finished in 7 minutes, 38.650 seconds for the program’s fifth lightweight four IRA title.

The double took second and the lightweight eight boat took fourth.

Back-to-back national champion Stanford finished with 34 points, followed by Boston University (30) and the Badgers (30), who settled for third on a tiebreaker.
