Junior forward Tom Barlow scored in the 55th minute and the University of Wisconsin men’s soccer team won its season opener, 1-0 over Santa Clara in a non-conference game Friday night at McClimon Field.
Barlow beat Santa Clara goalie Dakota Havlick from inside the 6-yard box on a give-and-go with junior midfielder Christopher Mueller.
Junior Philipp Schilling, from Schwegenheim, Germany, made two saves in his Badgers’ debut. Havlick made three saves.
