BOSTON –The Northeastern varsity eight men's rowing team extended its stranglehold on the Congram Cup on Sunday, defeating the University of Wisconsin for the fourth consecutive year.
The ninth-ranked Huskies finished in 5:57.58 while No. 14 UW posted a time of 6:00.51.
“I let the guys know that this would be a difficult race,” UW coach Chris Clark said. “Northeastern only raced once yesterday so I knew they’d have the edge with fresher bodies. We bobbled a little bit at the start which gave them a few feet and they slowly pulled away. You could see we just didn’t have the pop required to win.
