Well, that was a disappointing home opener.
Lindenwood upset the ninth-ranked Wisconsin Badgers hockey team at the Kohl Center, 4-2. This game is, without question, the biggest win in the Lions’ brief Division I hockey program history.
Jaeden Mercier got the scoring open for the Lions with a power play goal at 11:31. Wisconsin’s freshman Gavin Morrissey equalized at 15:42 on the power play, but Mercier gave the Lions the lead back just before the end of the period.
Alexander Lundman extended the lead to 3-1 Lions early in the second period off a batted puck mid-air after an initial save by Badger goalie Tommy Scarfone.
