Badgers defensive end Alec James hoping to take next step

Madison — Wisconsin's Alec James expects more.

After a nondescript redshirt freshman season in 2014, the reserve defensive end from Brookfield East High School believes it is time to start making plays.

"I feel that I'll have a greater impact because the game is starting to slow down for me," James said. "I'm able to read more. Last year, I was just worried about doing my job and not getting yelled at.

"Now being more comfortable in the system, you can focus on other things more. That definitely helps a lot.

"A lot of times guys just (think): 'OK, stay in my gap.
