Madison — Wisconsin's coaches hope veteran center Dan Voltz will be in the starting lineup this week against Purdue, but on Tuesday they began preparing for the possibility the redshirt junior will have to sit out to rest his injured left elbow.
With Voltz unable to practice Tuesday, redshirt freshman Michael Deiter worked at center on the No. 1 offensive line.
"Dan was limited today and (we) expect him to kind of keep picking up throughout the week," Joe Rudolph, UW's offensive coordinator/line coach, said after practice, adding the status of tailback Taiwan Deal (ankle) is uncertain.
