The Wisconsin Badgers had one of their bigger recruiting wins in recent memory when they landed four-star cornerback Xavier Lucas over Florida State and Miami this offseason, prying away the talented 2024 recruit from his home state.
Lucas, a 6’2, 200-pound cornerback, was immediately met with high expectations upon arriving on campus, even though he wasn't able to enroll early, instead coming to Madison in the summer.
With Wisconsin returning top cornerbacks Ricardo Hallman and Nyzier Fourqurean, while also having veteran options like R.J. Delancy and Max Lofy, it was unclear how quickly Lucas could crack the rotation, but the true freshman’s talent was seen from the first fall practice that I watched him, as he moved with a different level of fluidity, while looking stout in press coverage.
