Ava McNaughton leads Badgers to series sweep ahead of Border Battle

The timing is incredible, really. I spent last week raving about the Badgers’ potent playmaking, and for the first time this year the offense goes nearly silent. Thankfully, they don’t ask “how?” They ask, “how many?”

The answer to that question for the No. 1 Wisconsin Badgers women’s hockey team (27-1-2 overall, 21-1-2 WCHA) is “two.” Despite only scoring three goals across two games, the Badgers won both on their trip to Duluth. I mentioned needing to avoid the trap series before Minnesota comes to town, and they escaped by the skin of their teeth.
