Four head coaches of University of Wisconsin winter sports had contract extensions approved Friday by the UW Athletic Board.
Greg Gard (men's basketball), Jonathan Tsipis (women's basketball), Tony Granato (men's hockey) and Mark Johnson (women's hockey) had the expiration dates of their five-year contracts moved back to the end of the 2022-23 season.
In Gard's second full season since taking over for Bo Ryan midway through the 2015-16 season, men's basketball had its first under-.500 record (15-18) in 20 years.
Yet Gard, who made $2.25 million in 2017-18, got a midseason thumbs-up from athletic director Barry Alvarez.
