Junior forward Andy Van Vliet announced on Twitter on Tuesday evening, with Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard confirming via a released statement, that he will leave the Wisconsin Badgers’ men’s basketball program and “pursue my academic and athletic goals at another Division I school.”
Van Vliet began the season as a starter, notching 18 points and eight rebounds in a season-opening win over South Carolina State, but his role decreased early on and for most of the season. Against Northwestern on Feb. 22, however, he emerged as a shooting threat against the Wildcats’ zone defense and scored 14 points, hitting four of six three-point attempts in a 70–64 win in Evanston.
