WATERTOWN — Going head-to-head with University of Wisconsin women's golf teammate Gabby Curtis for 36 holes was just part of the challenge for Becky Klongland during Sunday's marathon opening day at the Wisconsin Women's State Amateur Championship.
Having to look at Curtis' throw-back "Ladies Love Outlaws" tube socks while she built a six-stroke lead going into Monday's final round? Now that took some focus.
"I loved them," Klongland said, laughing when asked about Curtis' colorful taste in socks but vowing not to join the "Outlaw" movement. "They're not quite my style."
Klongland likes her socks just as she likes her golf — right down the middle.
