NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — Five Rutgers football players have been suspended after one was charged in two home invasions and four others were charged with assaulting a group of people in New Brunswick in April.
The charges Thursday are the latest blow to a program whose head coach is embroiled in an academic investigation.
Prosecutors say 22-year-old defensive back Ruhann Peele, 20-year-old defensive back Nadir Barnwell, 20-year-old fullback Razohnn Gross and 22-year-old defensive back Delon Stephenson were charged with aggravated assault, riot and conspiracy to commit a riot for a fight that left a man with a broken jaw.
