Winnipeg Jets Prospect Michael Spacek To Play in WHL

Winnipeg Jets prospect Michael Spacek is coming over to North America this season.

This year’s fourth round draft pick, Spacek has committed to playing for the Red Deer Rebels in the Western Hockey League in the upcoming season after the Rebels selected him with the 47th pick in the Canadian Hockey League import draft earlier this summer.

This should be viewed as a plus for Jets fans for a couple of reasons. One, the Western Hockey League is a terrific developmental league and Red Deer will afford Spacek more ice time and opportunity to grow than in the Czech League, where Spacek played last season and recorded 12 points in 40 games (pretty decent numbers for a 17 year old who was less than half the age of the team’s leading scorer Petr Sykora).
