EDMONTON — It took a lot of stress Saturday night, but the Winnipeg Jets came up with two points that kept them no farther behind in the NHL’s Western Conference playoff race.
On shootout goals by Blake Wheeler and Andrew Ladd, the Jets outlasted the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 at Rexall Place to stay eight points back of the eighth and final Western Conference berth.
The Jets moved to 25-27-3 with their fourth straight road win. They are 5-0-1 in their last six games away from the MTS Centre.
Ondrej Pavelec recorded the win with 21 saves in the 65 minutes of hockey and two more in the shootout, including one on rookie sensation Connor McDavid, who was held off the scoreboard.
