A heavyweight battle of the Western Conference's top two teams delivered in spades Thursday night, complete with controversy, a late-game rally and some overtime heroics.
Rookie Kyle Connor scored with 2:36 left in the third period to tie it, but David Perron delivered the dagger with just over a minute left in overtime to give Vegas a 3-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets.
Vegas improves to 34-12-4 and remain on top of the Pacific Division. Winnipeg falls to 30-13-9 and remain on top of the Central Division.
Connor's goal to get the Jets a point at least prevented an earlier play from becoming the main storyline.
