Sharks take bite out of Jets

Mikkel Boedker's short-handed goal midway through the third period and Joe Pavelski's second market of the game, an empty-netter in the final minute, lifted the San Jose Sharks to a 3-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets in NHL action at the MTS Centre Monday night.

The Sharks lead the Pacific Division with a 39-19-7 record.

Defenceman Josh Morrissey and Mark Scheifele scored for the Jets, who fell to 30-31-6 and remain three points out of the final wild-card playoff spot occupied by the St. Louis Blues. The Blues were idle Monday night and have three games in hand on Winnipeg.
