Scheifele throws hat at Habs

Mark Scheifele’s best week in the NHL finally got the Winnipeg Jets over their hump at home.

The 22-year-old fired his first career hat trick and the Jets snapped a six-game slump (0-5-1) at home with a 4-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens in a raucous Hockey Night in Canada game at the MTS Centre Saturday night.

With his trey, including the game-winner at 13:01 of the third period and the empty-net insurance, Scheifele takes over the team lead in goals, now at 20 for the season.

'That’s something you dream of as a kid'

"(Those numbers), they’re big," a beaming Scheifele said after the game, in between the heckling from his teammates.
