New San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula may not look like the most hip head coach on the planet, (neither was his predecessor come to think of it) but as it turns out Tomsula is really with the times.
According to an excellent article in the Wall Street Journal today by Kevin Clark, the 49ers are taking some radical steps to deal with Millenials in the NFL. That includes offering breaks every half an hour during team meetings so the players can multi-task and even check their phones. Here’s a snippet:
“You’d hate to think someone would want to bring a phone in and text in a meeting…but that’s what you’re facing,” running-backs coach and former 49ers fullback Tom Rathman said of the youngest generation of NFL players.
