Tyler Myers and Brandon Tanev took big money elsewhere, while Nathan Beaulieu is back with the Winnipeg Jets.
Myers, an 10-year NHL veteran defenceman, and Tanev, a hard-working bottom-six forward, signed new multimillion-dollar, multi-year contracts today with other teams as the league's free-agent signing period began with a flurry at 11 a.m. Winnipeg time. Both were unrestricted free agents.
Myers signed with the Vancouver Canucks at the US$6-million range annually for five years. He had nine goals and 22 assists in 80 games for the Jets last season. The 29-year-old, who came over in a trade from the Buffalo Sabres in 2015, played junior hockey with the Kelowna Rockets.
