Morrissey, Halischuk among 16 cut by Jets

The Winnipeg Jets have trimmed their roster, sending a pair of players back to their junior teams and assigning 14 others to the Manitoba Moose, who open their training camp Tuesday.

Heading to the Moose camp at the Iceplex are forwards John Albert, Joel Armia, Patrice Cormier, Chase De Leo, Matt Fraser, Matt Halischuk, Scott Kosmachuk and Ryan Olsen; defencemen Brenden Kichton, Jan Kostalek, Andrew MacWilliam, Julian Melchiori, Josh Morrissey and goaltender Eric Comrie.

The assignments of Cormier, Fraser, Halischuk and Melchiori are conditional on them clearing NHL waivers.
