NEW YORK, N.Y. – Start spreading the news: NHL goaltenders have absolutely no answer for Patrik Laine these days.
The 19-year-old Finnish superstar put on another goal scoring clinic Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden, scoring all three goals to lead the Winnipeg Jets to a 3-0 victory over the New York Rangers. Not to be outdone, Steve Mason stopped all 31 shots he faced in his first NHL start in nearly two months to record his first shutout of the season.
But all of that was overshadowed by No. 1 centre Mark Scheifele suffering what appears to be a shoulder injury and having to leave the game.
