Winnipeg Jets captain Andrew Ladd and Winnipeg native Jonathan Toews are among the three finalists for the NHL’s Mark Messier Leadership award, the league announced late today.
Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf is the other finalist.
The award is presented annually to the player who exemplifies great leadership qualities to his team, on and off the ice, during the regular season.
Messier is involved with teams and some fans the nomination process but the selection of the three finalists and ultimate winner is Messier’s alone. The winner will be announced during the annual NHL awards show, this year on June 24 from Las Vegas.
