Nemesis: an opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome.
It’s probably fair to say the Winnipeg Jets are there now with the Anaheim Ducks.
The two NHL teams, who met for a brief Stanley Cup playoff series last spring after Anaheim won all three regular-season meetings, are on different courses this season.
Sunday afternoon at the MTS Centre, the Ducks (again heading toward the playoffs as contenders) needed overtime but dispatched the pesky Jets 3-2 on a goal by Jakob Silfverberg in the 65th minute.
It was the Ducks’ second win this season over Winnipeg, with one more meeting to come in April in Anaheim.
