Jets sign Raffl; three Jets rookies change numbers

Left-winger Thomas Raffl got his NHL contract today, a one-year, one-way deal from the Winnipeg Jets for the league minimum $575,000.

The 29-year-old Austrian was in Jets camp on a tryout agreement. He was granted leave by his Austrian club, Salzburg Red Bulls, to try to make the Jets.

With the announcement of the deal, the Jets then assigned Raffl to the AHL’s Manitoba Moose. Raffl practised with the Jets this morning.

"We would like to recognize and express our appreciation to the EC Red Bull Salzburg organization for allowing Thomas and the Winnipeg Jets this opportunity," Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff said in a release announcing the deal.
