The Winnipeg Jets landed a college free-agent prize on Wednesday, signing 24-year-old forward Brandon Tanev after his Hockey East Conference season was completed with the Providence Friars.
Tanev is the brother of Vancouver Canucks defenceman Chris Tanev, who played for the Manitoba Moose when they were the Canucks' AHL affiliate.
Brandon Tanev has signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Jets for the remainder of the season for a pro-rated value of $925,000.
Tanev had 15 goals and 28 points this season for Providence.
