Winnipeg Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff has crossed the final item off his summer to-do list.
Goalie Connor Hellebuyck signed a one-year, $2.25-million contract Monday and avoided what likely would have been a messy arbitration hearing for both the player and team.
Hellebuyck, 24, was the only remaining restricted free agent on the Jets and had elected salary arbitration if a deal couldn’t be reached. An arbitrator would have heard arguments from the Jets and from Hellebuyck's agent.
