Turns out, fans hoping to catch tonight’s historic NHL playoff game downtown will be confined to bars and pubs, with no public spaces showing the game on big screens.
Despite earlier suggestions the battle between the Winnipeg Jets and Anaheim Ducks might be shown on massive screen at 201 Portage Ave., at the corner of Portage and Main, property management for the building has confirmed fans will have to watch elsewhere.
"After consideration and consultation with the city, the decision was made not to go ahead with it," said Angela Lockhart, media manager for Harvard Property Management Inc.
