Jets fend off Isles in 3-1 win to sweep road trip

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Jacob Trouba and Adam Lowry scored goals 22 seconds apart early in the third period to spark the Winnipeg Jets to a 3-1 victory over the New York Islanders here Tuesday night.

Anders Lee broke a scoreless tie with his 10th of the year for the Islanders at 1:33 of the third period. But the Jets earned a power-play opportunity on the next shift and defenceman Jacob Trouba scored on a point shot that hit an Islanders player in front at 3:39.

Lowry then deposited the rebound off a Brandon Tanev drive behind New York goalie Thomas Greiss on the Jets next shift.
